38 Columbus completes the phased construction of a 38-unit 55+ residential community located on the corner of Bank and Columbus Streets in the heart of the Seymour historic shopping district. Housing over 40,000sq.ft. of commercial and residential space, the project was developed in two phases to include the modernization and adaptive re-use of a blighted historic property and the phased urban infill construction over the site of an existing parking lot. Completed in 2008 and 2017 respectively, the project received wide regional support during the planning and development phases, partnering with local non-profit housing agencies to provide property management and support services for residents. The property now offers 4 ground floor retail spaces, handicapped accessible elevator lobbies, central outdoor courtyard, shared amenities space with state of the art building and safety systems, on-site management, limited on-site parking, and 38 one and two-bedroom apartments available to seniors 55+. Developed and designed by O’Riordan Migani Architects with the support of the State of Connecticut Department of Housing, Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, Naugatuck Valley Savings & Loan, and Capital for Change in partnership with 16 Bank Street LLC and 38 Columbus LLC.
